12 Minis in 12 Months, Sew-A-Long

12 Minis in 12 Months Sew-Along Pt. 2

It’s that special time of year full of new beginnings and fresh starts. I’ve got some new plans of my own, and I’d like you to join with me on this new year’s resolution: to connect more, and to create more.

My friend Kelsey (Instagram @spoolsandspice) moved across the country this past year, and we wanted to do something that would help us keep in touch. Sewing quilts and sharing them with each other is the perfect reason to reconnect and remember our dear friendship. However, we are both busy working to support our husbands in school.

Since, for most of us, finding spare time is like trying to find a dropped needle in a shag rug, we wanted to plan something that would be more digestible and less overwhelming than a full-size quilt. I also live in a tiny two-bedroom apartment that still lacks decorations in a few of the rooms. Mini quilts are the perfect project to squeeze in when you’ve got just a few hours of spare time in your month, and you can use them to create a classy gallery wall like Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms.

I want to invite you to join with me in creating a new mini quilt each month of this year!

If you’re not already in love with the idea of sewing mini quilts just for the fun of it, then maybe I can throw a little motivation your way. On the last day of each month I’ll be giving away a prize package to someone who:

  1. Sews a mini quilt of his/her choice
  2. Posts a picture of it on Instagram
  3. Uses the hashtag #12minisin12months
  4. Tags me (@knotandthread)

I’ve been in contact with some of my favorite designers and notion suppliers, so I will be giving away some really great prizes throughout the year. If your resolution to create more mini quilts lasts longer than January, and  you sew a new mini quilt at least six out of twelve months this year, you’ll be entered for an extra-MASSIVE prize package at the end of the year.

Make sure to sign up for my newsletter so you can get the most up-to-date notifications for the sew-along, see my technique tips and tricks, and improve your chances at winning a giveaway!

I’m so excited to see what you come up with, and what kind of mini quilts you create! May your year be full of new and exciting expressions of creativity.

XOXO

– Kait

This is a great idea to do. I’m excited about it. My mother recently went into an assisted living home, she has dementia. These mini quilts are perfect to sew for her door decorations. She will have something new each month to hang on her door to show off. You can always get new sewing tips too. Thank you
