Olivia Basket Sew-along: Week 2

I am so excited for all of you who have joined in to sew Olivia’s Baskets with me.

Now that we have everything cut out, we are going to do some quilting! These baskets feature an unquieted exterior and a quilted lining (no loose lining here). That means we will only quilt the lining fabric to the Soft and Stable.

I made a YouTube tutorial with tips for quilting Soft and Stable, so give it a watch if you’re feeling hesitant or unsure. In the video, I share easy tips for creating 1” crosshatch quilting on some Hello Pouches I was making, but the tips are still the same for any quilting project. Check out that video here.

Be sure to follow the information shown in the pattern to trim down your quilted pieces so that they all fit together properly.

This week I have some great giveaways to offer from some dear friends of mine: The first is a few patterns from my friend Kristina of Center Street Quilts.

Second is a darling fat quarter bundle from Cassie of Sew Stitching Happy. All you have to do to enter is post a photo of your progress with the #oliviabasketsewalong hashtag.

I love that some of you have already finished your baskets! It really is such a quick and fun project. Once you start sewing, it’s not easy to stop. Thank you for those who have sewn along, and have FINISHED already!

Here are a few baskets that have already been finished:

Ceci made this darling basket out of Lella Boutique’s Farmers Daughter fabric.

Amanda also finished this basket she made for her first grand baby.

Thanks to all of you for sewing along. It’s such a quick project, so you can still join the fun if you haven’t already.

Keep an eye out for the giveaway winners next week!

Yikes! I really need to learn how to photograph my projects a little better! I didn’t even recognize my basket at the first!

Such a fun pattern, Kaitlyn. I’m going to make at least one set with coordinating fabrics with this one, and I’m sure it will be the first set of MANY!!!

I’m so glad you are enjoying making them!! Love your basket!!
