It's that special time of year full of new beginnings and fresh starts. I've got some new plans of my own, and I'd like you to join with me on this new year's resolution: to connect more, and to create more.
My friend Kelsey (Instagram @spoolsandspice) moved across the country this past year, and we wanted to do something that would help us keep in touch. Sewing quilts and sharing them with each other is the perfect reason to reconnect and remember our dear friendship. However, we are both busy working to support our husbands in school.
Since, for most of us, finding spare time is like trying to find a dropped needle in a shag rug, we wanted to plan something that would be more digestible and less overwhelming than a full-size quilt. I also live in a tiny two-bedroom apartment that still lacks decorations in a few of the rooms....

I'm so happy it's finally here! It's the release of my new pattern Hello Pouches. I have been blown away from the support and excitement for this pattern! I have loved the process of creating this pattern. I played with the idea for several years, and now it is here!
The pattern includes instructions for all four sizes. These pouches have a quilted base for great stability, but also include a great vinyl top for easy viewing of all your trinkets.
I made the bags on the cover with Vanessa's (from V and Co) fabulous new Confetti Metallic Ombre' fabric, shipping to stores in January.

I have been the busiest I have ever been this "Quilt Market" season. I think I have sewn over 20 bags, and quilted many quilts. I always get so sad that I can't share until market it over. But luckily it is just around the corner.
Since I can't share all the lovely bags and fabrics I've been sewing with just yet. I wanted to show you a great new pattern from Patterns by Annie. It is called the Every Way Every Day Bag. This is a pretty great bag, it comes with a bunch of different ways to carry it. Included are the perfect length handles, backpack straps (that can be removed at the bottom and put in the pocket if you don't want to use them), a carrying strap, AND if that wasn't enough included in the pattern are some stroller straps.

I am so happy that so many have joined in on our Open Heart Sew Along. If you missed the details don't worry, there is still time to join. For the next few weeks we will be sewing the Open Heart Quilt. (If you hurry fast the pattern is still on sale on Vanessa's website for just $5.)
I have been wanting to make this quilt for as long as the pattern has been available. When Vanessa of Lella Boutique released this pattern I was instantly drawn to the title and design. Some of you know I travel to Africa as often as my time and money will allow with an organization called Mothers Without Borders. While there we practice principles such as being present, being intentional, and having an open heart.
Many have also suffered from various heart conditions. I hope this sew along will in a small way bring recognition...

I am beyond excited to be releasing this pattern! It has been in the works for (dare I say it) years! I am so glad that I can finally set it free.
This bag made with one of my favorite products of all time, ByAnnie's Soft and Stable, that gives it great shape, and helps with ease of construct. I quilted straight lines on my striped fabric. And just to answer your questions now, the strap is made from a cotton fabric, and covered with a polypro strapping. It is not leather, but give the appearance of leather, (which I love!)
Includes a zippered pocket inside, to secure all your valuables. I love the opportunity to add a pop of color on the inside!
Also a back slip pocket for easy access.
