Purr-fect Patchwork

Hi friends, I'm very pleased to share about a dear friend's new book! Pam and I met in real life during an even hosted in Provo, UT called Creative Collaborative. Sarah Jane was speaking so we both went to fan girl over an incredible artist and fabric designer. We realized there that we were both quilters and became friends! It's been fun to support each other over the years in our individual endeavors. To see Pam's book finally come to life is such a joy! Specifically, I'd like to share about one of the projects in the book which I was able to long-arm quilt for Pam. The pattern is called Ziggy Kitty. It features a darling cat block with two variations of pieced cats. It's perfect for showcasing a large-scale print mixed with some small-scale prints....

Favorite Things Fabric Tour

Who doesn't love sewing with a good rainbow fabric collection? Luckily for me (and you), Shayla from Sassafras lane is a master at creating said colorful collections. I first sewed with one of Shayla's collections a few years ago when I was able to participate in a blog tour for her Foundations fabric collection. Check out the rainbow Hello Pouches I made here, and then again with her Good Vibes Only fabric collection where I made my Modern Half Hexi quilt. When she asked me to participate again this year, I knew I wouldn't be able to resist Shaylas rainbow goodness. Somehow I was able to manage, in the midst of having a baby and learning all about sleep deprivation. This project was a bright spot in my weeks as I strapped my baby on or watched as she slept beside me and my whirring sewing machine....

SEW PINK 2020

It's such a pleasure to have some good news and positivity to share amidst all of the twists and turns 2020 has thrown our way. My good friend Annie Unrein and her crew are raising money and awareness for Breast Cancer research. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to participate! I feel strongly that it's important to be informed about Breast Cancer. As someone who has family members that have been affected, I care deeply about spreading awareness. I'm so grateful for the ByAnnie Team for sharing this cause so passionately each year. You can read my #SewPink post from last year here. Here's a little more information about the journey of breast cancer research thus far: In honor of this occasion, I decided to make a project featuring lots of pink! I chose my most...

Jelly Filled Quilt Parade

I’m so excited to be participating in Vanessa’s Book Tour! I loved her first book about how to use your charm squares, and when I heard she had one coming about how to use up jelly roll precuts, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! This book is stuffed with so many amazing patterns. I want to make them all! In this post, I'll share my first make from the book—this fun Hey Cupcake quilt. I picked this one for a couple of reasons: First, I wanted to practice my curved piecing and, second, I had this fun Kahari Jelly roll by Carolyn Friedlander hanging out in my stash that I thought would be a fun collection for this quilt. Especially when paired with Robert Kaufman Essex linen.

Good Vibes Only Blog Tour

I always feel so privileged and excited when I get to participate in a blog tour for the launch of a new product. I know that it takes an artist who is willing to put his/her heart and soul into creating it and bringing it to fruition. This fabulous fabric tour falls into that category; it's something inspiring, happy, fun, and it's a joy to use in creating! This collection was designed by Shayla Wolf of Sassafrass Lane for Windham fabrics and is shipping to stores August 2019. The collection includes some incredible geometric rainbow prints that allow endless possibilities for creations. When Shayla invited me to participate, I was right in the middle or designing a new quilt pattern and thought this collection would be a fun way to highlight both the...

Prairie Sisters Farmhouse Fabric Tour

I am so excited to be participating in the Prairie Sisters Farmhouse Fabric Tour. I love the connections I've made in the quilting community, and I was so pleased when I crossed paths with the talented Jina Barney. She asked if I would be willing to make some of my Olivias Baskets and Hello Pouches as samples out of her new fabric collection—Prairie Sisters by Poppie Cotton, which is a new fabric company started by her and Lori Wood Studios. I happily agreed, and got to sewing with these darling prints. I made my Olivia's Baskets in all three sizes included in the pattern. Olivias Baskets is a great beginner pattern and a perfect match with these springtime prints. These Baskets are also reversible! Side note: I am also hosting a Olivia's Baskets Sew along...

Windsor Garden Blog Tour

Hello friends! Its been a busy summer here for me as I've been preparing to leave for Africa with Mothers Without Borders—TOMORROW! I've also been house hunting, working on new patterns, and trying to keep up with all the lovely quilts I receive every day. With all of this stuff going on, I'm very grateful I was able to squeeze in a bit of leisure-sewing with this beautiful new fabric collection from Kelly Parker Smith called Windsor Garden by Sweet Bee Designs. Next up, I'm going to share some more sneak peaks of the two new patterns that will be released very soon. I just couldn't wait! I haven't quite set a release date yet, but it will be very soon after I return from Africa. If you sign up for my newsletter, you'll be the first to know. First, here it is my first-ever quilt pattern Second Star. This quilt was designed...

Foundation Fabric Blog Tour

I was more than thrilled when Shayla from Sassafras Lane asked if I would participate in her Foundations Fabric Blog Tour.  Foundation is a fabric line designed by Shayla for Windham Fabrics  with the perfect rainbow palette. Ever since I released my Hello Pouches pattern I have wanted to do a little improv piecing work on the base of the pouches.  These fabrics gave me the perfect opportunity. I especially loved quilting my pouches with these prints. Each hand drawn print created the most perfect quilting lines to follow. I accented the rainbow patchwork with mini pipping which highlighted the colors so nicely.   I am also hosting a Sew-A-Long through the year of 2018. #12minisin12months A mission to create more mini quilts for my sewing space while connecting to other creatives and improving and learning new skills.  I couldn't pass up the opportunity to create my February Mini from this Foundation fabric.  Here...
