Final Week of the All The Things Tote Sew-along

This week we will be making our handles and assembling the bag. Are you excited to finish this up? I hope the end result of this bag leaves you wanting to make more! HANDLES: Are you using a finished handle webbing? Or covering some strapping with fabric? You have options and both are good. I am really loving all the webbing options I've seen shared. I have a few colors of finished cotton webbing in my shop if you need a quick option. The pattern covers instructions for both versions. FABRIC COVERED STRAPPING: Covering a polypro strapping with fabric is one of my favorite ways to add more variety to your bag. I love fabric so any way to incoporate just one more print excites me. If you are the same, this may be...

All The Things Tote Sew-Along Week 1

Welcome to another Sew-Along! I'm so excited to be sewing another bag with you! The Schedule Collect Supplies Do you have everything you need? I designed the bag to be made with Soft and Stable, but I have seen a couple samples interfaced with SF101 fusible interfacing and then quilted up with batting. So you have some options and liberty with how you construct your bag. If you have batting/interfacing lying around, those are great options. I love Soft and Stable for the structure and stability. I haven't made a tote without it yet. In case you need it, I carry both options in my shop:Shop InterfacingShop Soft and Stable Have you decided which handle option you are going to make for your tote? The pattern includes instructions for...

The Violet Backpack

Hello folks. I would like to introduce you to my newest pattern: The Violet Backpack. If you’re a regular around here, you know I like to name my patterns after my nieces’ names. Olivia, Truvy, and Wylie are all namesakes for previous patterns of mine. I knew I would eventually make a pattern named after my own little girl. What I didn’t expect was to do it in the first year of her life! But here we are. I have wanted to design a small backpack for a long time. I wanted one of my own really badly after visiting Disneyland in 2020 (thinking this would be the perfect size for a Disney trip)! The Violet Backpack features one outside zippered pocket—perfect for your phone and keys. Inside, there are three slip pockets. Included in the pattern are instructions...

SEW PINK 2020

It's such a pleasure to have some good news and positivity to share amidst all of the twists and turns 2020 has thrown our way. My good friend Annie Unrein and her crew are raising money and awareness for Breast Cancer research. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to participate! I feel strongly that it's important to be informed about Breast Cancer. As someone who has family members that have been affected, I care deeply about spreading awareness. I'm so grateful for the ByAnnie Team for sharing this cause so passionately each year. You can read my #SewPink post from last year here. Here's a little more information about the journey of breast cancer research thus far: In honor of this occasion, I decided to make a project featuring lots of pink! I chose my most...

The Truvy Bag

This bag pattern has been in the making for over a year. I made my first sample out of an old Amy Butler print that is an all-time favorite of mine. I thought to myself, "If this doesn’t work out, and I only manage to make it once, I want to use fabric I will love for a long time." To my surprise and joy, it worked out really well and just took me a little while to get the pattern finalized. I’ve now made 4 of these bags and have 3 others in the works. It's addicting! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. This bag has 4 separate vinyl zipper compartments. The pockets in the body of the bag have significant depth to them, so they will hold a lot of things. The two removable...

Wylie’s Way Quilt

As a long-time diamond quilt lover, I wanted to design one of my own. While designing my Second Star quilt pattern, I learned all about the math and methods for making half-rectangle triangles. Ultimately that led me to this fun design. My favorite tool for creating half-rectangle triangles is the HRT Bloc Loc ruler. It is super handy when trimming them down. I also have a YouTube video that shows some helpful tips and tricks for quickly making half-rectangle triangles. https://youtu.be/PDZFFbkRRv4 This quilt is made from fat quarters—and I’m sure we all of a few extra of those lying around! Grab your pattern here, pick up a ruler while you're at it, and get started! I'm gonna buy me Wylie's Way brb I named this Pattern after my darling...

Modern Half Hexi Quilt

I am so excited this day is finally here! I have been working on this quilt pattern for quite some time. I spent much of it testing out different color combinations, but then received the opportunity to work with Ruby Star Society as part of their spring market collections. When I saw the collections, I just knew any and all of them could be a perfect fit with my pattern! Check out these three size variations of my #modernhalfhexiquilt. Below is my favorite rendition—a baby-size using the Snap to Grid fabric by Kimberly Kight along with an Add It Up print by Alexia Abegg. I love the playfulness of this color-blocked look. Here is a lap version of the Aviary collection....

Prairie Sisters Farmhouse Fabric Tour

I am so excited to be participating in the Prairie Sisters Farmhouse Fabric Tour. I love the connections I've made in the quilting community, and I was so pleased when I crossed paths with the talented Jina Barney. She asked if I would be willing to make some of my Olivias Baskets and Hello Pouches as samples out of her new fabric collection—Prairie Sisters by Poppie Cotton, which is a new fabric company started by her and Lori Wood Studios. I happily agreed, and got to sewing with these darling prints. I made my Olivia's Baskets in all three sizes included in the pattern. Olivias Baskets is a great beginner pattern and a perfect match with these springtime prints. These Baskets are also reversible! Side note: I am also hosting a Olivia's Baskets Sew along...
