Quilted Works : Quilting Cruise

Before I tell you about the Quilted Works Cruise, I just want to tell you a little about this picture.  These bags all belong to our wonderful cruisers.  I have had the opportunity over the past year, to teach Annie's wonderful patterns as classes at QW, and as they all showed up completed, at the airport I could NOT pass the opportunity to get a picture of them all together! To travel with the Quilted Works crew on a QUILTING CRUISE, was a true pleasure. But really, what could be better? I was privileged to be asked to accompany Annie as a teacher for the cruise, teaching one of Annie's patterns Bon Voyage (which was written especially for the occasion).Annie, me and my Momma excited to fly!We cruised on the Allure of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean experience.  I didn't have anything to compare the experience to, but I...

Purse Palooza

I was so excited the day that Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness asked me to be a guest pattern reviewer on her blog. She has organized a wonderful line up of purse pattern reviews for the whole month of October!  If you are into making bags, you should definitely head over there and take a gander at all of the wonderful bag patterns that are out in the world.  Aren't we lucky to exist with such creative people all around us.I chose to review one of Annie's patterns.  Many of your know that I make many of her patterns. (I'm partially addicted to them, and Soft and Stable, and how can I forget her handbag zippers in 48 colors)!!So here are a few pictures of my Catch All Caddy!   I enjoyed so much the chance to make this wonderful pattern.  And I am so happy to fill it with all...

Sewing Service.

Quilted Works so graciously opened there classroom for a wonderful service sewing evening.  I have had fabric cut and ready to be sewn into some beautiful table runners for about 2 years now.  (No one else does that right?  2 years!!?!) These beautiful African fabrics were shared with me by my lovely friend Pam who has travelled all over Africa and collected material along her journey. She graciously shared some of her treasured materials to be sewn and donated to the Mothers Without Border's fundraiser boutique sale. Finally I saw all these wonderful fabrics come into being. I offered this class, free to whomever wanted to come learn a new technique, and share good company. The materials were provided, all that was asked was just a smile, a few hours and a lot of love.  That was exactly what was given by these sweet women.  I am so grateful for all those...

Journey of the Heart

It has been quite an experience in and of itself coming home from Africa.  It’s taken me a bit to get my feet back on the ground.  I have so desperately wanted to share the experiences I had in Africa with others, but have often found it hard to share such sacred moments. As the time passes since my return I have pondered on the beauty of the Zambian experience I was blessed with, as Kathy would say, my “Journey of the Heart.”  It was truly REMARKABLE.  Here are a few Photos that I’d like to share with you all, I hope to be able to share some of the feelings and experiences I’ve had in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

ZAMBIA: grateful for giving hearts and hands.

I am leaving for Zambia in just a matter of hours, and wanted to share a few pictures from my first Zambian experience, and just how grateful I am for those who have donated time, money, and means to help me make it back to these beautiful African children. One of the greatest experiences I've had in my life has been the opportunity to travel to Africa, to Zambia in 2009. I went with an amazing organization Mothers Without Borders. It was an experience that shaped and changed my heart in ways that guided many of the choices that I have made, the way I see and view the world,  and also how to truly love and be loved in return.I will never forget the very important things that I learned as I was able to be surrounded by the Zambian people.  I remember vividly the night during our evening devotional...

pittsburgh.

I had the opportunity to attend International Quilt Market in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago.  What a great city!  I have loved Pennsylvania for a while now, and loved having the experience to be in the city with so much culture, energy, and life.  Walking around by the convention center after the show each night, finding new places to eat and enjoying the surrounding of Pittsburgh was my favorite part. Pittsburgh has more bridge that any city in the United States, and some pretty beautiful church buildings.I love attending Quilt Market because it really is a time to be inspired by the creativity of so many people in the industry.  I am always in awe of the talent that exists in each of our minds and hearts. I loved seeing and connecting with some of my favorite designers and friends!  People I look up and appreciate. The lovely Sherri...

I have had so much on my mind in the last few months, one thing being, this blog.  I have wanted to create a space to share my creations, adventures and document the good things happening in my world.I have been pondering about the power in each of us to create, whatever it may be, we create every day.  We create memories, laughter, friendships, and so much more, the important thing is that we create. The last few weeks have reminded me just how important day to day moments are in our lives each day.  How important it is to have secure knots and ties to individuals, faith, and memories.  I had dear friends that welcomed a still born baby boy into the world a week ago.  I thought about how precious his life is, how beautiful the creation of life is, how great it is that we able...
