Patchwork Duffle Mini

Don’t you just love puppies? I love puppies because they small and cute. It’s like all of the good things about a dog, but in a more manageable size. If you like puppies like I do, you might also like my Patchwork Duffle Mini—which is a smaller and more manageably-sized version of my Patchwork Duffle pattern.

This pattern has felt like it’s been in the works for a while now. Shortly after the Patchwork Duffle was released, I had people wondering about another size variation. All you who have made the extra large and extra spacious Patchwork Duffle know you can fit a small toddler inside. Well now you have the perfect sized bag for your Toddler’s use, or a perfect companion travel bag for your Patchwork Duffle.

Like the original Patchwork Duffle, the pattern features two options for a patchwork exterior or a solid fabric version. You can add on a carrying strap in the exact same manner as so many did for the Patchwork Duffle as well. Be sure to check out this post here for the carrying strap tutorial.

You may also want to check out this blog post that I shared at the end of the Patchwork Duffle Sew-along that shared some of my favorite additions makers contributed to their bags when making them!

I’m sure the questions you are wondering about the most is the size difference between the bags. The mini duffle measures 10” H x 17.5”W x 8.5” D. The large duffle measures 12” H x 20.5”W x 9” D. Shown below are the Patchwork Duffle Mini patchwork and a Patchwork Duffle in a single-fabric version.

Hopefully these photos help you see the difference in scale. I made these samples out of a new collection designed by Aneela Hoey for Mona Fabrics called #pipsfabric. It took me back to a collection she designed called Little Apples years ago when I worked in a quilt shop as an 18 year-old. I couldn’t resist the darling little scooter kids, as well as the dogs, and trees!

The pattern is available in a PDF format here, and also a Printed version here. I have supplies such as ByAnnie’s Soft and Stable, purse hardware, bag strappings, and handbag zippers also available in my shop if you need.

Thanks for all the love on these duffles. I look forward to sharing more of the duffles I’ve made with you over the coming weeks!

I recently ordered your Patchwork Duffle Mini. I am very knowledgeable about sewing, but these instructions have me baffled. In the posts, sew along on this project are mentioned. Are they still available for viewing? I have completed the patchwork squares, and quilted all the pieces. And now I am stuck.

What length strap do you recommend I cut for option carry strap for the mini patchwork duffel? I see that 60″ is used for the regular size. I had fun sewing this!

Hi! I’m so glad you enjoyed making the bag! I would say use the same measurements for the carrying strap for the mini as well! Its adjustable so it will cover all the sizes. Have a great day!
